Everything You Need To Know About CA CPT June 2018

The Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is a national level entry exam conducted by ICAI. Students of CA need to clear this test to proceed to the next level. As per the timetable released by ICAI, CPT is scheduled to be held on 17th June 2018. The exam will be conducted in two sessions: 10:30 am to 12:30 pm in the morning and 2 pm to 4 pm in the afternoon. The application forms for CA CPT 2018 will be rolled out from 4th April onwards. Students wishing to appear for CA CPT in June 2018 will have to register with ICAI by 26th April. Students applying online can submit their application forms latest by 3rd May along with the late fee.

Eligibility Criteria for Students Registering for CA CPT June 2018

Students must note that there is no upper age limit for CA CPT applications. However, a candidate must be at least 18 years old to be able to apply for CPT, given that they will be allowed to sit for this entry level exam only after they have cleared their Class 12 Board exams in the Commerce stream. Those candidates who have already cleared their UG or PG degree in Commerce with a percentile of 55 or above are exempted from appearing for CPT. They can directly go for CA Intermediate (earlier know as CA-IPCC). To be eligible for CPT in June 2018, a candidate must register with ICAI in April this year.

How to Register for CA CPT June 2018?

As mentioned earlier, the registration process for CA CPT June 2018 will begin from 4th April. Students can register in any of the regional branches of ICAI. The registration fee needs to be paid via a demand draft in favour of the secretary. At the time of registration, the student will also have to purchase the prospectus.

Students can also choose to apply online. In this case, they have to follow the steps given below for a simple and easy registration.

  • Students will need to visit the ICAI website: http://www.icai.org/cptform.html
  • They will have to enter relevant details like Name, Date of Birth, Category, Nationality, Medium of Study, Parents’ Names, Address for Communication, Details of Educational Qualifications, Annual Income of Parents. If already a Student of Professional Education, provide the unique registration code.
  • Students can use their credit/debit card to make payment.
  • After the payment is made, students have to click the submit button on the screen.

Syllabus for CA CPT June 2018

The syllabus for CA CPT spans about four subjects, divided into two sections. Section I consists of two papers: Fundamentals of Accounting and Mercantile Law. Out of these two, Fundamentals of Accounting is for 60 marks. 40 marks are allotted to Mercantile Law. Likewise, Section II consists of two papers: General Economics and Quantitative Aptitude. Both papers are allotted 50 marks each.

Students can expect the results to be disclosed within a month from the exam date. The result is published online on the official ICAI website. Candidates who appeared for the exam can check their results by logging in to their registered account. Apart from that, candidates will receive notifications about their qualifying status via the registered email id and telephone number. After checking the result online, candidates can download their scorecard from the official ICAI website.
