How to prepare for CPT Accounts in the Last 30 Days?

Accountancy is the most important subject for Chartered Accountants. According to weightage, Accountancy is given the highest importance in CPT. You need to prepare very well for this subject. If, for some reason, you do not write this exam well, you may not feel motivated enough to write the remaining subjects to the best of your ability.

In these last few days, you need not focus on problems. You can directly start your preparation from MCQs in problems and MCQs in theory. At this point, it is impossible to solve each and every MCQ, so focus on the important ones only. It will save your time. And, when it comes to Accounting, make Journal Entries the heart of your strategy. If you are thorough with Journal Entries, you can understand the chapters rather easily.

How to prepare for CPT Law in the Last 30 Days?

Unlike Accounts, Mercantile Law is a theoritical subject, and in this case conceptual clarity is more important than practicing MCQs. So start your preparation by having an overview of the chapters, and understand the broad content and the sequence of various sub topics.

Referring to multiple textbooks while study for this subject is the root of all confusions. Since you have limited time, simply stick to the study material provided by ICAI. While revising, attempt MCQs from Model Test Paper provided by ICAI.

How to prepare for CPT Economics in the Last 30 Days?

For students from commerce background, CPT Economics is a scoring subject. Even students from other backgrounds who had studied Maths in+2 can catch up if they pay some attention to this subject. While writing the exam you must finish answering MCQs in this subject very quickly so that you have enough time to answer the MCQs in Quantitative Aptitude which will be more time consuming. While preparing for this subject focus should be evenly distributed on all the chapters. You will not find any one chapter having huge weightage of marks in the exam. Even from the most important chapter, we will get only 1 to 2 marks.

Economics involves lots of statistical data.  Although difficult, students need to exactly recollect all such data. Also, the data should be up-to-date and applicable for your attempt. Practice diagram /graph by yourself on the basis of explanation given to clarify the concept and the logic behind the diagram.

How to prepare for CPT Maths/Q.A. in the Last 30 Days?

In CPT, Q.A. is allotted a full 50 marks, and can be a jackpot for you to score more, given that you have a firm hold on Maths and Statistics. Too bad, most commerce students who did not have Maths in their +2 dread this paper. And those how have a good aptitude in Maths, also fail to score in this subject due to over confidence and lack of adequate practice.

Many students overtly neglect this subject which is a bad move as there is subject-wise cut-off for each subject. Notes and study materials are only meant for conceptual understanding and won’t be much help in this subject. Since you have limited time now, focus more on the statistics bits and swipe through the basics of all chapters.

Final Tips on How to Prepare For CPT in the Last 30 Days

  • Stay focused, and stick to the study planner as far as possible
  • Study minimum 2 subjects a day, and study each subject on alternative days
  • Understand the relative importance of each chapter. Refer to the chapter-wise weightage tables while studying for the upcoming exams.
  • Set aside a couple of hours every day to revise everything that you have studied. At the end of each week, revise everything that you have studied during the week.
  • Set short-term targets. Set daily goals and analyze your progress at the end of every day.
  • Study should be accompanied by practice. Especially for the practical subjects, remember that practice equals speed.
  • Learn/revise theory subjects by writing notes. This is where your concept registers will come in handy, if you have been maintaining one, that is.
  • Make sure you attempt at least one mock test paper every subject before appearing for the final exam
  • And, above all, stay positive and confident. Give it your best shot in the remaining days before the CPT exams.
